About Us
Ethiopian honey wine, crafted in the United States.
What is tej?
Tej is Ethiopia's traditional honey wine, poured at weddings, holidays and family gatherings for centuries. It is golden, naturally sweet and made to be shared.
How we make Bethel Tej
We ferment pure honey and water in small batches at our licensed winery. Traditional tej uses gesho, a native Ethiopian plant, for its bitter balance; we use hops instead, which gives a cleaner, consistent finish.
We make two styles: Smooth, our sweeter, honey-forward tej, and Dry, fermented further for a crisper finish.
Beyond Tej
Bethel Vegan Wine brings the same spirit to an agave wine with hops, made without honey for those who prefer a plant-based option. Blue Nile Lager, inspired by the great river that flows from Ethiopia, is a crisp golden lager made for sharing.
